This was not the butler Richard had been envisioning and clearly he was not what Mr Wilson expected either, for the old man said nothing in response to this greeting, instead looking Mr Barrow up and down. Richard knew Mr Wilson was unimpressed. The man before him did not meet his expectations for a butler; he looked too young, too insolent, too handsome for Mr Wilson to abide. Without uttering a word, Mr Wilson strode past him into the house, with Miss Lawton following, and Richard witnessed a look of shock flitting across the poor butler’s face. As he passed, he gave the man an encouraging smile for he, too, knew what it was like to be at the receiving end of Mr Wilson’s disapproval. He hoped Mr Barrow found his feet again before the arrival of the rest of the household.

The events of the Downton Abbey film from Richard Ellis’s perspective (with a few changes to canon…)
Story time. So last week I sent a card in the post to @lautemalerei, because I’m a grandma, and it apparently arrived today. When I sent it, it was just an simple card in an ordinary envelope. You’d think it would arrive a simple card in an ordinary envelope, but it didn’t. It arrived as a mystery.
The envelope was torn (which come on postal service be gentler please) and inside, along with my card, were two American dollars. WTF?!
I solemnly swear that I did not send her money, so where the hell did these two one dollar bills come from? And also, I should also point out that the card was sent and received in Europe. At no time did it travel to or through America (I don’t think).
Needless to say, @lautemalerei and I were totally baffled and laughed hysterically about this for a good five minutes.
Can someone explain this to me?! I really want to know how this random American money came to be in my card.

With a bold typographic print to the chest stating “This film was directed and produced by Stanley Kubrick”, the reverse sees a monolith from Kubrick’s 1968 film “2001: A Space Odyssey” printed across the back.
‘It’s very important for me, in my lyrics, to make it relatable and make it real, conversational. And it helps because I’ve always kept people from home, where I’m from, Doncaster, close. And those people always help ground you, and I think that actually, I almost reflect that in my lyrics as well, because, y'know, I don’t want to be writing about things that people, y'know, don’t understand and can’t relate to. I want people to be able to feel stuff when I write about it, so it’s very important.’
